Beaver features such as these are complex and ever-changing\, making beaver wetlands one of the most exciting habitats to explore. With more water held back\, freshwater life such as dragonflies\, waterfowl and amphibians thrive – alongside many unexpected surprises\, such as butterflies feeding on sugar-rich sap on gnawed trees. \n\n\n\nBeavers are nocturnal mammals\, so viewing the animals themselves is highly unlikely on Beaver Enclosure Safaris\, however the magic of this species lies in their incredible ecosystem engineering. DESCRIPTION:In recent years\, beavers have made a splash in the news for their restoration in parts of England and Scotland\, through a series of enclosed and wild releases. In July this year\, beavers were put back on the map in Northumberland through an enclosed beaver release at National Trust Wallington. To celebrate this step toward restoring a missing part of our freshwater ecosystems\, we invite you to join us for an evening (re)discovering beavers.With footage and photography from Britain and Europe to illustrate\, you will explore beaver ecology and coexistence with Heather Devey\, Co-Director of Wild Intrigue\, before hearing an update about the Wallington beaver family from Helen McDonald\, Lead Ranger at National Trust Wallington. \n\n\n\nFree and open to all. DESCRIPTION:For 20 years Eurasian Beavers have been reshaping land\, wildlife\, water and minds on the Bamff Estate\, which supported the first beaver demonstration project in the UK.  \n\n\n\nNow\, Bamff Wildland supports over 40 beaver dams\, along with new pools\, channels and braids. These wonderful beaver wetlands\, along with naturally restored woodlands and new rewilding practices\, make this a landscape where birds\, mammals\, invertebrates\, plants – and people can thrive. \n\n\n\nThe brilliance of beavers lies more in what their bodies do\, as opposed to how they look…  \n\n\n\nChisel-like teeth and paddle-tails are just two fascinating anatomical features of beavers\, which make them first class architects and engineers\, much needed skills in their vocation of wetland creation. \n\n\n\nThe ultimate ‘Keystone Species’\, beavers create opportunities for a diversity and abundance of wetland wildlife to return\, under their long-evolved\, meticulous management.   \n\n\n\nLeaky beaver dams and expertly crafted channels help water to behave more naturally\, making beaver wetlands exciting\, ever-changing and fresh.
