Come along to Tower Knowe\, at Kielder Water and Forest Park\, for a mini walking safari to explore the sights\, sounds and smells of the season.  \n\n\n\nYoung Nature Rangers will learn expert tips on identifying birds from their songs\, how to find insects hidden from sight\, and many more intriguing ways to explore Kielder’s wonderful wildlife.  \n\n\n\nA certificate will be awarded to young Nature Rangers at the end! \n\n\n\nTICKETS Children £15 | Adults £5 \n\n\n\nMost suited to children aged 6 – 12\, but all ages welcome. DESCRIPTION:Discover one of Kielder’s most enigmatic summer visitors\, on an exclusive Osprey Watching Cruise.  \n\n\n\nGuided by expert naturalists\, Wild Intrigue\, you’ll head out onto Kielder Water in search of Ospreys\, which return from Africa to nest here each year. \n\n\n\nYou will have the opportunity to enjoy a short talk\, diving into the fascinating history\, ecology and local conservation of the Osprey\, as we set sail on Kielder Waterside’s comfortable boat\, the “Osprey”.  \n\n\n\nIn 2021\, Kielder Water was home to an impressive seven pairs of Ospreys! SUMMARY:Quayside Nature Tour
DESCRIPTION:Amongst the spectacular architecture of Newcastle\, incredible wildness can be found in our everyday explorations of the city. \n\n\n\nBetween Newcastle and Gateshead runs the tidal vein of the River Tyne. With its comings and goings between sea and land\, the scenery of the urban Quayside is ever-changing\, and so too is the wildlife which lives within and alongside it. \n\n\n\nOur Quayside is renowned as being home to the world’s most inland breeding colony of Black-legged Kittiwakes\, but also an incredible array of other\, perhaps surprising\, species. From familiar curb-side Feral Pigeons\, to awe-inspiring Peregrine Falcons\, which sit atop bridges\, viewing the city like magnificent gargoyles.  \n\n\n\nThe River Tyne was once a heavily polluted\, industrial river\, but now you can see Otters and Grey Seals feeding in the river\, Kittiwakes breeding on the stunning architecture and iconic Tyne Bridge\, Shelduck\, Teal\, and Redshank foraging amongst Dunston Staiths and a whole host of other species. \n\n\n\nJoin a Wild Intrigue guide for a journey along the Newcastle-Gateshead Quayside\, to discover the wildlife that calls this city home. You’ll discover the history of the River Tyne\, and how its industrial past has shaped the wildlife that can now be found in the heart of this urban landscape. \n\n\n\nThis walking tour will be approximately 5 miles long\, following footpaths along the River Tyne. We’ll stop for lunch along the banks of the river to enjoy a delicious packed lunch from local social enterprise\, Big River Bakery.
