DESCRIPTION:Explore Northumberland’s wild winter wonders\n\n\n\nJoin Wild Intrigue and the Northumberland National Park astronomy team to discover the wild wonders of winter\, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Northumberland International Dark Sky Park‘s pioneering accreditation. \n\n\n\nNorthumberland is renowned and accredited for having the most pristine dark skies in England\, offering spectacular opportunities for stargazing\, particularly throughout autumn and winter. \n\n\n\nWith your feet firmly on the ground\, you will embark on an exploration of the Dark Sky Park in a fascinating\, expert-led stargazing workshop\, to explore the celestial blanket above with guided use of special telescopic equipment.  \n\n\n\nYou will take a short\, guided\, starlit stroll through Walltown to discover the intriguing ways wildlife benefits from dark skies\, and how different local animals cope through the winter months.  \n\n\n\nThroughout the evening you will be able to enjoy the warmth of Walltown’s cosy indoor room\, with hot chocolate and a wood-burner to keep you toasty. Here\, you will also discover how you can help to protect our dark skies and nocturnal wildlife\, in illustrated talks by Duncan Wise from the Northumberland National Park and Wild Intrigue. \n\n\n\nThis event is most suitable for ages 11 and above\, under 18s must be accompanied by an adult ticket holder.  Please note that dogs are not permitted on this event. DESCRIPTION:A pioneering documentary by professional underwater and wildlife cameraman\, Jack Perks\, ‘Britain’s Hidden Fishes’ explores coastlines\, chalk streams\, lakes and rivers to put a spotlight on the underdogs of British fauna; our fish. Shot over two years\, the film brings a new light on the intriguing behaviours and diversity of fish\, bringing light to an often overlooked part of the natural world which we live alongside. Watch the trailer here. \n\n\n\nFondly nicknamed “The Fish Twitcher”\, you may have enjoyed seeing some of Jack’s underwater work on TV programmes such as BBC Springwatch\, The One Show and Countryfile – along with the recent David Attenborough documentary\, Wild Isles. \n\n\n\nJack is also author of the Freshwater Fishes of Britain and the Field Guide to Pond & River Wildlife of Britain & Europe\, and hosts discussions on nature on his popular podcast\, The Bearded Tit. \n\n\n\nHosted at Ouseburn Farm as part of the Wild Talks winter series\, Wild Intrigue are proud to welcome Jack Perks to introduce his film\, Britain’s Hidden Fishes\, and to host a Q&A following the film (which runs for 1 hour 25 minutes). \n\n\n\nOpen and free to all\, light refreshments will be provided.
