SUMMARY:Family Bats & Pizza Night
DESCRIPTION:Rewild your week on a Wild Intrigue Bats & Pizza Night\, hosted at the tranquil\, rural glamping site Wild Northumbrian. This beautiful spot is set in the heart of Northumberland National Park on the edge of Kielder Forest\, beneath the enchanting celestial blanket of the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park. \n\n\n\nUpon arriving at the Swallow Hut you will be greeted by your Wild Intrigue guides\, who will escort you to your al fresco dining table for the night. Once you’ve grabbed your first bottomless hot or cold drink of the night\, the fun begins as Wild Intrigue guide you into making your own stone-baked pizza\, with delicious dough. Which toppings will you choose? \n\n\n\nPlates emptied\, you will embark on a short\, guided exploration of crepuscular wildlife emerging in the meadow as the sun begins to set. Perhaps you’ll hear Tawny Owls calling\, Roe Deer barking\, or the Blackbird’s bedtime melody. \n\n\n\nA cosy campfire will be waiting back at the Swallow Hut ready to toast marshmallows to enjoy with a hot chocolate. As the sun dips below the horizon\, you will set off on a Bat Safari to track down bats emerging from their roosts on the hunt for breakfast. With bat detectors in hand you will track down these elusive creatures of the night\, picking up their echolocation on route. Through intriguing insights\, fascinating facts and some (unashamedly) enthusiastic impressions from your Wild Intrigue guides\, you’ll discover just how intriguing these misunderstood creatures of the night are. \n\n\n\nAdult groups (or ages 14+ at parent’s discretion) should book onto Bats & Pizza Nights to enjoy a chilled\, wild night out. \n\n\n\nFamilies with children should book onto Family Bats & Pizza Nights\, for a night tailored to suit you and your little wild ones! \n\n\n\nPlease note that we can only welcome adult-only groups onto our “Bats & Pizza Nights” experiences and not “Family Nights”. Our Family Nights receive a lot of demand due to little ones hoping to return\, so we want to prevent disappointment. \n\n\n\nThere are heaps of wild encounters to enjoy in northern England\, explore our full collection here.

DESCRIPTION:In the rolling Cheviot Hills of Northumberland National Park\, legendary creatures dwell; the Cheviot Goats. \n\n\n\nStep back in time to the ancient lands of the Border Reivers on this guided Wild Intrigue experience\, to discover these long-lived inhabitants from the times of early Neolithic farmers and the Monks of Lindisfarne. \n\n\n\nCheviot Goats are members of one of the oldest herds of wild animals in Britain; magnificent\, shaggy beasts steeped in fascinating history\, folklore and ecology which you will discover within the stunning landscape of the College Valley. \n\n\n\nHaving tracked and spent time watching Cheviot Goat billies\, nannies and kids\, you will take in breath-taking views of the College Valley whilst enjoying a two course\, al fresco gourmet meal\, prepared by local chef Chris Reay of Fells Kitchen. \n\n\n\nThis guided experience is a unique opportunity to discover the historic roots and future of one of Britain’s most ancient\, wild herds. You will find out how the local Cheviot Goat Management Group\, a collaboration between landowners\, farmers\, researchers and the National Park\, are working together to protect the future of this rare\, native breed.  \n\n\n\nWe are proud to support the work of the Cheviot Goat Management Group\, a percentage of our profits from this experience will be donated to contribute to their important work. The past two seasons we have donated approximately £200 to the group thanks to attendees.

SUMMARY:Noctalgia: Dark Skies Matter | Ouseburn exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Casting light on nocturnal wildlife\n\n\n\nWe are delighted to welcome the enchantment of the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park to Ouseburn\, with the spectacular exhibition\, Noctalgia: Dark Skies Matter\, created by Ouseburn-based artist Bethan Maddocks. \n\n\n\nThis beautiful series of sculptures play with light and cast mesmerising shadows around the exhibition space of the BottleWorks gallery space in Ouseburn. Featuring delicately cut imagery of shooting stars\, the Milky Way\, hunting owls\, night pollinating plants and insects\, the sculpture is a tribute to the visible stars\, creatures\, and plants that thrive under Northumberland’s pristine dark skies. \n\n\n\nAs visitors step into the darkened gallery\, the sculptures will cast intricate shadows of these paper-cut creations onto the walls\, creating an immersive and emotional artwork that is nothing short of theatrical. \n\n\n\nNoctalgia is a new term invented by astronomers to describe the pain associated with losing access to the night sky due to light pollution: “noctalgia\,” meaning “sky grief.” This particularly resonates with our diminishing access to dark skies in the city\, as electric light sources trespasses ever-more into our starscape. \n\n\n\nCommissioned by Northumberland National Park Authority and generously supported by the Sir James Knott Trust\, this innovative exhibition has been created by visual artist Bethan Maddocks\, in collaboration with community groups and visitors through creative activities and workshops. \n\n\n\nThe Noctalgia exhibition forms a key part of Ouseburn Dark Skies\, a long weekend celebrating our nocturnal wildlife and exploring ways to restore and protect our dark skies for wildlife and people. Discover the full Ouseburn Dark Skies programme here. \n\n\n\nWe are incredibly grateful to Bethan Maddocks and Northumberland National Park for partnering with Wild Intrigue to share this exhibition through Ouseburn Dark Skies\, to shed light on the interconnectedness between our natural world and the celestial wonders within the darkness above. \n\n\n\nWith thanks to Malings Community Fund for their support in Ouseburn Dark Skies. \n\nImage: Noctalgia artwork in The Sill | Kate Buckingham \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNOCTALGIA LAUNCH EVENT with BETHAN MADDOCKS \n\n\n\nFRIDAY 24TH MARCH 6pm – 7.30pm \n\n\n\n\n\nEXHIBITION OPENING HOURS\n\n\n\nFRIDAY 24TH MARCH \n\n10am – 5pm \n\n\n\nSATURDAY 23RD MARCH \n\n10am – 2pm \n\n5pm – 7pm \n\n\n\nSUNDAY 24TH MARCH \n\n10am – 7pm \n\n\n\nMONDAY 25TH MARCH \n\n10am – 5pm \n\n\n\nNo need to book\, just come by
