As part of the Star and Shadow Cinema’s Slow Way Celebration we’re excited to be leading a special FREE Slow Ways Wildlife Safari on 16th June 10am – 2pm.
Slow Ways is an intiative to create a national network of walking routes connecting all of great Britain’s towns and cities as well as thousands of villages. Using existing paths, ways, trails and roads people can use Slow Ways routes to walk between neighbouring places, it’s designed to make it easier for people to imagine, plan and go on walking journeys.
We’re excited to be teaming up with Slow Ways to lead a Slow Ways Wildlife Safari, walking from Newcastle Central Station to Blaydon Train Station, following the Blanew two route.
The route will take us along the north side of the River Tyne, where we’ll discover the wildlife of the Tyne Estuary, from breeding Shelducks and visiting waterfowl, to the chance of Peregrine Falcons and seals. From there we’ll head along the old waggonways, discovering botanical wonders, butterflies and a whole host of urban wildlife.
The walk is 5 miles in total, following public footpaths and will finish at Blaydon Train Station.
As part of the journey we will record and review the route for the Slow Ways project. This event has been funded by Slow Ways.
Please note: The walk will begin at Newcastle Central Station and end at Blaydon Train Station, transport via train or bus is easily accessible back to Newcastle but isn’t include with your ticket.
