Goats & Gourmet

Mythical beasts and exceptional wild dining

In the rolling hills of the Northumberland National Park Cheviots, elusive, almost mythical creatures dwell; the Cheviot Goats.

Embark upon a guided Wild Intrigue safari into the ancient lands of the Border Reivers, stepping back in time to discover these long-lived inhabitants from the times of early Neolithic farmers and the Monks of Lindisfarne.

Cheviot Goats are members of one of the oldest herds of wild animals in Britain, magnificent, shaggy beasts steeped in fascinating history, folklore and ecology which you will explore within the stunning landscape of the College Valley.

Returning from the hills, you will take in the breathtaking views of the College Valley whilst enjoying a two course, al fresco gourmet meal, prepared by local chef Chris, from Fells Kitchen.

This guided experience is a unique opportunity to not only discover the roots of one of Britain’s most ancient, wild herds, you will also find out how a local Goat Management Group, featuring landowners, farmers, researchers and the National Park, are working together to protect the future of this rare, native breed. We are proud to support the work of the goat management group through this safari, a percentage of our profits will be donated to contribute to their important work.

Goats & Gourmet is part of the National Park Experiences, a curated collection that brings the stories of our National Parks to life. Each experience offers an authentic insight into the landscape and special qualities of a National Park.
