Birding for Beginners Course

7th April 2024 @ 10:00 am 12:00 pm

Discover the avian wonders of Wild Ouseburn with Wild Intrigue.

If you’re intrigued by nature and are interested to learn more about your local wildlife, birding is a great skill and gateway to start discovering more about our wild urban inhabitants.

In this short course you will:

  • Discover the fascinating ecologies of species regularly present across the Wild Ouseburn project area

  • Develop skills in species identification; including plumage, behaviours and calls, and techniques in recording.

  • Learn ethical birding practices to accommodate bird behaviours in the city

  • Explore and discuss equipment to aid species identification, such as field guides and binoculars

Sessions will take place partly indoors at Ouseburn Farm, and outdoors into Ouseburn Woods and the surrounding area.

No prior knowledge of birds or wildlife is needed, and you will have use of Opticron Binoculars and various Field Guides throughout the sessions. You will also have the opportunity to take part in the free Wild Ouseburn Binocular Loan Scheme by taking part in this course.

The Birding for Beginners course will take place over three dates, please make sure that you are available to attend all three:

Sunday 28th April 10am – 12pm

Sunday 5th May 10am – 12pm
