In the rolling Cheviot Hills of Northumberland National Park, legendary creatures dwell; the Cheviot Goats.
Step back in time to the ancient lands of the Border Reivers on this guided Wild Intrigue experience, to discover these long-lived inhabitants from the times of early Neolithic farmers and the Monks of Lindisfarne.
Cheviot Goats are members of one of the oldest herds of wild animals in Britain; magnificent, shaggy beasts steeped in fascinating history, folklore and ecology which you will discover within the stunning landscape of the College Valley.
Having tracked and spent time watching Cheviot Goat billies, nannies and kids, you will take in breathtaking views of the College Valley whilst enjoying a two course, al fresco gourmet meal, prepared by local chef Chris Reay of Fells Kitchen.
This guided experience is a unique opportunity to discover the historic roots and future of one of Britain’s most ancient, wild herds. You will find out how the local Cheviot Goat Management Group, a collaboration between landowners, farmers, researchers and the National Park, are working together to protect the future of this rare, native breed. We are proud to support the work of the Cheviot Goat Management Group by hosting these experiences.
These experiences are a favourite within the Wild Intrigue collection – join us for an early summer meander through this stunning landscape, amongst an array of wildlife – from Cuckoos to Orange-tip Butterflies – and an array of seasonal birdsong.
