Ouseburn Wild Talks | Wild Finca

As a Christmas treat, we’re so excited to invite you for an evening immersed in the inspirational landscape of Wild Finca. Tuning in all the way from Northern Spain, Luke and Katie will join us to host a virtual talk, with the chance for a discussion and Q&A at the end. Although the talk is virtual, we will gather together in the Ouseburn Farm event space to enjoy a festive night full of wild inspiration, mince pies and drinks.
Part of the Ouseburn Wild Talks series, hosted in collaboration with Ouseburn Farm, as part of the Wild Ouseburn project. This year’s talk series is supported by the the Reece Foundation’s Ouse Burn Way fund.
ABOUT THE TALK + SPEAKER
When wildlife photographer Luke Massey and his partner, writer Katie Stacey, first discovered a derelict dairy farm in the mountains of northern Spain, they had no idea it would become the centre of a long-term rewilding project – and the place where they would build a home and raise their two sons.
Now seven years into the Wild Finca journey, Luke shares how they have transformed an abandoned, overgrazed landscape into a thriving mosaic of meadows, woodlands and wetlands. He recounts encounters with wolves, bears and countless other species, alongside the daily, grounded work of restoring soil, water and habitat while raising a young family in the heart of a rewilding landscape.
From boosting biodiversity and creating new habitats, to turning a once-exhausted farm into an oasis for wildlife and documenting rare species through camera traps, Luke offers an honest, hopeful look at what becomes possible when you choose to live with – rather than against – the wild.
For those who’d like to dive deeper into the story behind Wild Finca – the land, the wildlife, and the family shaping their lives around it – Katie’s book No Paradise With Wolves is now available wherever you get your books. Recently named one of BBC Wildlife’s Best Books of 2025, it makes the perfect stocking filler for any nature lover.
This virtual talk and discussion will be hosted (only) in the Ouseburn Farm event space, join us for an inspiring pre-Christmas evening!

Wild Ouseburn Talks are a welcoming place for everyone to come and discover all things wild. Talks are free and open for everyone to attend, but please RSVP your free place(s), and you will be sent a reminder email a couple of days before the event.
