City Stadium Wildflower Meadow Seeding

October 26 @ 11:00 am 1:00 pm

Join Wild Ouseburn to seed new wildflower meadows at City Stadium!

After the success of last year’s wildflower meadow at City Stadium, it’s now time to sow the seeds of the new wildflower meadow areas that we’ve been creating over the last few weeks.

What was once 4000 squared metres of mowed amenity grassland is now ready to transform into a beautiful bloom of colour, to support wildlife in the Lower Ouseburn Valley. From bats and birds, to butterflies and bees, the City Stadium meadows will provide new areas for wildlife to live and feed, as well as a spectacular display of life and colour for us all to enjoy.

Be part of this transformation, and join us on Sunday 26th October to help us spread the wildflower seeds. Ouseburn Folk Choir will be serenading our seed spreading, and there will be a chance to take a packet of wildflower seeds home too!

The City Stadium wildflower meadows have been created as part of Wild Ouseburn, to rewild the Lower Ouseburn Valley. Hundreds of people have generously volunteered their time in the creation of the meadows.

The work is in partnership with the Newcastle Parks & Allotments team, and has received funding support through the Reece Foundation’s Ouse Burn Way Fund and Newcastle Nature Networks.

Sunday 26th October 2025 | 11am – 1pm

Everyone is welcome! If you’re thinking of coming along, let us know with RSVP, and we’ll send a reminder to you a couple of days before. You don’t need to RSVP to come – it just helps us have an idea of numbers!

Meet at the original City Stadium wildflower meadow, created in spring this year (next to the Cycle Path where the coffee van usually is).
